Sounding Circles produces sound healing workshops in New York City, across the US and World-Wide!
Sounding Circles are guided participatory sounding events using the voice. In this 3-part facilitated process, participants are led into a state of profound play, through which they unleash their creativity by discovering how to paint with sound, they are shown how to send healing energy into the body, and they ultimately tap into a deeper sense of their own power by finding their inner wildness!
The Sound Soak is an immersive participatory sound healing concert that launched in September of 2012 in NYC and can be found once a month. Hosted and created by Joule L’Adara, each month features different collaborative artists of sound healing pracitioners and conscious musicians. The Sound Soak has featured Crystal Singing Bowls, Hilayan Singing Bowls, Planetary Gongs, Didgeridoo, Energy Chimes, Bells, and Tuning Forks. The series also integrates classical and world music including piano, voice, Cello, Harp, Mbira, Tar, and African Drumming. In the Sound Soak, participants are invited to lay down on pillows and yoga mats while given “Mindfold” eye-masks that shut out all light but allow one to keep their eyes open. Thus, they are invited to go an an inner journey guided by the live music and soundscapes.
Regular Sounding Circles Workshops currently take place at the New York Open Center, Integral Yoga Institute, NYC and The Green Spa, Brooklyn. Joule L’Adara has also given Sounding Circles workshops in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Florida, Iowa, Hawaii, Canada, Germany and Australia. Sounding Circles workshops are also given at Corporate Retreats and Private Retreat Events.

Sound Meditation Concerts
Ongoing in New York City
Created & Hosted By: Joule L’Adara
Now in its 5th year, The Sound Soak NYC is Joule L’Adara’s distinct live sound meditation series. Running since September 2012, The Sound Soak is a nourishing, invigorating healing sound concert experience and community gathering held once a month in New York City. Participants are invited to lay down on yoga mats and pillows and are given “Minfolds” – eye-masks that shut out the light while allowing one to keep their eyes open to encourage inner journeying. The live music and soundscapes surround the journeyers, allowing them to experience music with their whole bodies. Participants can experience emotional release, the moving of energetic stagnation, deep relaxation, and/or renewed energy and invigoration.
The Sound Soak takes the “Sound Bath” concept one step further in that it offers “sound healing” instruments such as: gongs, crystal singing bowls, Himalayan singing bowls, energy chimes, mono-chords, didgeridoo, drums, bells and rattles; and combines them with live acoustic musical performances such as classical piano, stringed instruments, harp, world music, jazz, with operatic, folkloric, and experimental vocals. Created and hosted by Joule L’Adara, The Sound Soak features a different collaborative guest artist or artists so that each event is a completely unique experience.
Joule L’Adara and Sounding Circles are thrilled to have recently entered into a partnership with WeWork. Regular Sound Bath events are now being offered in different WeWork co-working and co-living spaces across NYC, lead by Joule and guest sound facilitators.
Due to the growing population of Sound Baths, Joule and friends are now offering Sound Baths at a variety of additional locations throughout the year, including the WOOM Center, Bread & Yoga, Integral Yoga Institute, Brooklyn’s award-winning Green Spa, as well as guest events around the US and abroad. Joule L’Adara is now expanding her events to also offer them in corporate settings.

Healing with Sound: Using Your Voice as a Tool for Self-Healing

You will discover that your voice is a perfectly calibrated healing instrument for your unique body and energy system! You’ll learn how to gently and effectively send vibrations within the body: clearing your energy field and re-charging your brain while bringing about deep relaxation and unleashing your creativity.
Joule will introduce us to a variety of vocal healing practices including the toning methods of Tomatis and Keyes, harmonic chant, sacred seed syllables, and bija mantras. She will also explain how the conscious use of vocal sounding combined with intention can dramatically improve our manifestation abilities. Sound Therapy Training
The Secrets of the Monochord: Level 1 Training
The Feeltone Monochord is an ancient and timeless instrument reimagined for contemporary sound therapy practices. Beautifully hand-crafted in Germany, Feeltone Monochords are designed to be placed directly on the human body and played by a sound practitioner, sending soothing vibrations within. A cascade of natural acoustic overtones are created by gently running the fingers over the Monochord strings, allowing the body to take in the “sonic nutrients” it chooses. In this modality, there are no electromagnetic fields, no electronic sounds, and no “one size fits all” approach to sound healing as can occur when working with prerecorded music. Working with natural acoustic instruments allows a practitioner to actively engage with a client and create an individual tailored session working harmoniously with individual needs, energies, rhythms, and boundaries.
This hands-on workshop will give you the opportunity to play, experience, and learn more about the Feeltone Monochords including the Monolini or Monolina Body Therapy Monochords and the larger Concert and Meditation Monochords. While these instruments are completely intuitive and require no prior musical knowledge or ability to play, specific techniques are offered in this training that will deeply improve your ability to play the instruments with beauty, ease, and a variety of colors, as well as to evoke the elements of nature and to hold a deeply meditative space when playing for others. All of these techniques can be used for sound massage, group meditation sessions, to accompany singing and voice work, or to enhance any kind of hands-on healing work from acupuncture to massage therapy.
In this course you will:
- learn Monochord playing techniques: How to create a “flying sound carpet” rich with overtones, and how to bring out the different overtones to accent your playing.
- be given the opportunity to open your ear to the harmonic spectrum, be shown how to differentiate between different sound qualities, and understand the difference between tuning options for the Monochord strings.
- have clinical practice time: receiving the vibrations of these therapeutic instruments as a client, and giving supervised sessions as a sound practitioner.
- experience how playing a Monochord can open a new space for you: allowing you to relax, rejuvenate, and nourishing yourself and others
$450 if you bring your own Monochord or $500 course fee (Including a $50 instrument rental fee which can be used as a store credit to purchase a monochord during or after the course!)
Upcoming 3-day Monochord Trainings in 2017:
November 10th – 12th in Miami, Florida
January 26th – 28th, New York City
